About Poker Time

Poker Time is the sole online poker room of the Fortune Lounge Group. The company is primarily an online casino operator owning several major casino and bingo titles including Royal Vegas, Vegas Palms and Giggle Bingo. Launched in 2004, Poker Time is licensed in Malta and operates using MicroGaming software. For a while Poker Time operated their own tables although now they are fully part of the MicroGaming Poker Network, MPN.

This review covers Poker Time in detail. Here you can find out about what sets this MPN site apart from the others, including information on its reputation with players. New player offers are featured in addition to regular loyalty programs. Then the deposit options you can use are looked at and the Poker Time online customer support is also tested out.

Poker Time’s Straightforward Approach

Poker Time’s homepage, available in English, German, Italian and Spanish, is extremely straightforward and basic. As Poker Time does not serve the ring-fenced Italian or Spanish markets it is surprising that these are two of the few language choices, despite their wide use.

With the exception of a tiny casino link at the footer of the page, the site is all solely about poker. You’ll find the links and trust symbols associated with a reputable site here, including responsible gaming, external fairness checks and links to customer support. They run a ‘vanilla’ MPN skin, which is smart and completely standard.

Is Poker Time A Trusted Site?

There have been some concerns over the trustworthiness of Poker Time. These seemed to be strongest around 2010 when the site was operating independently.

The main area of complaint was Poker Time not allowing players to cash out after they had played enough to unlock the free money awarded to new players. These complaints reported some fairly poor responses by support, ignoring what the players were saying and just replying with a standard reply which did not address the issue.

Among the replies on different threads other players have stated they had no issue and enjoyed the site and the Poker Time forum reps appeared helpful. Over the last couple of years there have been very little complaints publically about Poker Time. The site has never had any major cash out issues, apparently just not treating ‘bonus-whores’ too well.

The Mobile Offerings

Currently Poker Time does not offer a mobile platform for their games. There is an Instant Play option which launches a browser client which you may be able to access on Android devices.

Free $5 to All New Players

Poker Time offers all new players two bonuses. The first is a free $5 and the second is a 100% match up to $300.

Just by downloading the client and signing up to the site you can claim the $5 bonus without the need for a deposit. You will not be able to withdraw this money until you have played enough to gain 20 Real Rewards, or loyalty points, and the money will be removed if you fail to play in a 7 day period or attempt to withdraw without clearing enough points.

The second bonus matches your first real money deposit up to $300. This does not require a code – you just need to achieve 6 Real Reward points to unlock each $1 of your bonus, which is then instantly available in your account. Real Reward points are awarded at 3 points per $1 spent on rake or tournament fees, so this is the equivalent to 50% rakeback.

There is nothing to indicate you cannot have both bonuses running at the same time, although given Poker Time’s history it may be worth clearing the free $5 initially before moving onto the deposit bonus. That way you can get a feel for the site and avoid any confusion if there is an issue.

30% Rakeback Loyalty Program

By signing up to play real money on Poker Time you are automatically enrolled in their 30% rakeback program. This runs in a similar way as the deposit bonus, in that every time you play a raked hand or pay a tournament fee for every $1 spent your receive 3 Real Rewards.

You can convert your Real Rewards into cash or tournament buy-ins at any time at same rate as 30% rakeback – which is the maximum allowed for this network.

There are no races or leader board contests permanently offered here. You will find a list of one-off promotions and offers, which include the chance to win additional prizes for playing blaze (fast-fold) poker.

Poker Time Has Many Deposit Options

There are many ways to get your money on and off Poker Time and all possible options form a long list on the Banking page.

The easiest method for most people is to use a Visa or MasterCard. Both Debit and Credit cards issued by these companies are accepted for deposits. You may find some cards will not permit withdrawals due to their own rules.

A popular way to deposit, especially if you spread your poker play over several rooms, is via an E-wallet. These act as a third party so you do not have to share your bank or credit card details across all the sites you use. Neteller, Skrill and Click2Pay are all accepted by this site – along with many other pre-paid and local options.

Polite Support Staff Lacking in Knowledge

All contact options for support can be found on the Contact Us web page. If you are playing on the site you can find them on the Contact Us option under the lobby’s Menu tab.

The quickest way of getting in touch with Poker Time’s support is via the Live Chat. Like all support options this is available 24hrs, 365 days a year. You just need to complete a quick form describing your issue and then you can see where you are at in the queue.

On a weekday evening I got through in a couple of minutes, although after I replied to the operator’s opening “How are you?” there was a long delay before I got another response. I ended up re-entering my query regarding whether or not the poker room had a mobile client, and it was another long pause before getting my reply.

There are different email options to handle different queries. I sent a question asking how to release the free $5 bonus later that evening. The initial reply took about two hours to come back, which is reasonable. Unfortunately it was just a generic reply saying my original query was not detailed enough and asking for a more detailed description in addition to my account details. I replied the following morning, rewording the original query slightly. It was significantly longer this time before I got a reply and even then it remained unclear to them.

If you wish you can call Poker Time support via the telephone numbers listed, most of which are free.

Summing It Up – Why Sign Up To Poker Time?

The free $5 offer is great for players looking to try out the MPN network without depositing. The welcome bonus is less than other sites, although it converts at a good rate and is achievable. In addition the 30% rakeback adds a nice boost to your bankroll.

Unfortunately, Poker Time does not seem high in the priorities of their parent company, Fortune Lounge. As such the website feels a bit basic and you may have to deal with support staff who are not fully familiar with the poker product of the group.
