Betsson Poker - A Leading Light on the MPN Network
Betsson has a long history in the online gambling business; their sports betting site has been around for 10 years and with 2014 commemorating the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Betsson Poker site, this is a name that has been around for as long as most online poker players remember.
When I think of Betsson, I immediately think of safety and reliability. Having been an avid gambler since my late teens, they’re a name that I know and recognise as being one of the biggest names in the industry. I’ve even used their betting exchange in the past on the few occasions they had better prices than those offered on Betfair.
However, it would be foolish to trust a brand on reputation alone; there have been numerous cases of seemingly legitimate sites going bust and players being left out of pocket – Full Tilt Poker anyone?
That said, Betsson are the real deal. They’re an enormous company floated on the Swedish stock exchange. Furthermore, they don’t just run one site, but actually have something of a mini gambling empire. As well as Betsson their parent company also owns 3 other MPN powerhouses – Betsafe, Nordic Bet and Triobet. They also operate 3 hugely popular online casinos – Casino Euro, Star Casino and Maxino.
Betsson Software
If you’re looking for the slickest graphics, you won’t find them at Betsson. This isn’t an issue for me – my main focus is on the cards and not the visual element but this is likely to be an issue for some players. There are some sites where stylish avatars and 3D graphics are all the rage. For me those things are a nice bonus but as long as the games are good and the software runs smoothly, I’m happy as Larry.
They do offer a number of features that are pretty standard in today’s game. For example you can turn off chat (not something I do as I always like to needle opponents ). If you are the type of player that likes to take notes on opponents you can add a colour tag to your opponents. I find this second feature very useful. I personally set good players as red and then the fish (ie the guys I like to buddy list) are set to green.
Betsson also has 24/7 live chat support. If you run into any issues or simply have a question, simply press the live support button and you’ll have your question dealt with in no time. While this is found on a lot of sites these days it’s worth noting that it’s not offered by all MPN skins. So, in that regard Betsson definitely scores some extra points.
Banking Options
I had absolutely no complaints about the deposit methods that are provided by Betsson and I can’t imagine anyone will. As well as debit and credit card options, there are various others such as Paysafecard, Skrill, Neteller, ClickandBuy, Ukash and many more.
Betsson Signup Bonus(es)
When signing up to Betsson poker you have three choices of bonus offers available. These range from the lowest €100 deposit bonus right up to the highest €1,000 deposit bonus. With Betsson not having a minimum deposit necessary to claim any of the bonuses it may seem like a no brainer to take the €1,000 bonus. This is not the case. The larger the bonus you opt for – the more difficult it will be to release it. Remember, players have a maximum of 60 days to release as much as they can of the bonus before it dissapears.
MPOKER100 – With this code you can avail of a €100 deposit bonus. This will be released in 4 blocks of €25. To release each of those blocks you will need to pay €125 in rake or tournament fees.
MPOKER300 – With this code you can avail of a €300 deposit bonus. This bonus is released in 3 blocks of €100. To release each of these blocks players are tasked with paying €600 in rake or tournament fees.
MPOKER1000 – This is the largest bonus available at Betsson. Here you can of a €1,000 bonus but it is only released in 2 segments. Each of these €500 segments requires you to pay €2,500 in rake or tournament fees. Bearing in mind that you only have 60 days to release the full bonus this is no easy task.
With the above being said it is important to be realistic when choosing your deposit bonus. If you are a low stakes or occasional player it will most likely work out to your benefit to choose one of the lower bonuses. If you are one of the higher stakes players or someone that puts in a lot of volume it may be worth going for the highest bonus available.
Betsson Loyalty Program
Not only are new players rewarded with offers but so are the loyal players to Betsson. They offer a four tier loyalty system which allows players to earn up to 30% cashback. Even as an entry level player to the loyalty program you will earn a 10% cashback. I have outlined in the table below the four tiers, the points required for each and the cashback percentage at each level.
Level | Points Required | Cashback % |
Bronze | 0 | 10% |
Silver | 500 | 15% |
Gold | 1000 | 20% |
Star | 3000 | 30% |
Players earn 10 loyalty points for every $1 they pay in rake or tournament fees. With that being said, in comparison to other skins, it is very realistic to be earning at least a 20% cashback each month.
Betsson is an All Round Winner
I like to think I’m a hard man to please. If I don’t like or I find a flaw in something, then I will have no problem calling a spade a spade and saying it. Betsson passed all my tests with flying colours. They have decent software, excellent support, loads of banking options and importantly pay winnings extremely quickly.
I actually think it is a little harsh on them that they weren’t listed here as the #1 Microgaming skin, but they are not far off. They’re super safe, have a long history in the game and if for whatever reason you don’t want to play at my top ranked site, then by all means give Betsson a try. You won’t be disappointed.
